    Student researchers are digging up 6-inch deep holes at more than 250 sites in Tonawanda, Kenmore, Grand Island, and parts of Buffalo close to Tonawanda Coke as part of a more than $700,000 study. "They are testing for 130 different contaminants specifically the kind of chemicals that are coming off of Tonawanda Coke, heavy metals like lead and arsenic," said Jackie James-Creedon, Citizen Science Community Resources Executive Director.
