    The daughters of Roger Desilets Jr. aren't the only ones who believe their father played a hand in the death of his wife. One of the jurors who found the retired Princeton dentist not guilty of manslaughter Jan. 31 said he suspects that, despite the acquittal, Desilets is responsible for the death of Kathleen Desilets.  "I don't think she went out that window by herself," said the juror, 53, who lives in North Brookfield.

    The state Department of Transportation ruled Friday that signs reading “Bridge Closed,” "Road Closed," "No Outlet To Route 9" and "Dead End”  on a 1.7-mile stretch of Quaboag Street to the Dunn Brook Bridge are “inappropriate” because the bridge and street are open. On Tuesday, Brookfield Highway Department Superintendent Herbert A. Chaffee II said the bridge has been open for a couple of months.

    A missing service dog is back home in Southbridge after being found Saturday in West Brookfield, several miles from where he fled after his owner was in a car crash Dec. 29. West Brookfield Police Officer Matthew Letendre said he got a call Saturday morning from a woman who lives on Winter Street near West Brookfield Elementary School. She was in her driveway and a dog resembling Arthas, whose picture had been posted on social media, had run up to her vehicle, Officer Letendre said.

    A judge has ruled that it would be too dangerous to release an East Brookfield man who twice led police on foot chases after he allegedly robbed a Spencer gas station. As a result of the judge's decision, Brandon Beauchene, 25, of 227 Harrington St., East Brookfield, will be held at the Worcester County Jail and House of Correction until his next court date: Jan. 25. A pretrial hearing in his case is slated for that day in Western Worcester District Court in East Brookfield.

    A motorist was flown to the hospital Sunday after two cars collided head-on on West Main Street near the Salem Cross Inn, police said. Police said a medical helicopter took the victim to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester with an injury that was not life-threatening. A motorist in the other vehicle suffered a minor injury, police said.
