    A man who was being chased by police in Bridgeton pointed a loaded gun at an officer before he was fatally shot , authorities said Wednesday in announcing the results of an investigation of the shooting last year. Darryl Fuqua, 24, was told by officers to stop and drop his loaded .38-caliber revolver twice before he was shot in an alleyway on South Avenue on Feb. 10, according to a statement released by the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.

    The article by Star-Ledger columnist Mark Di Ionno on the front page of the Dec. 24 South Jersey Times was a very heart-rendering description of the suffering endured by the Campos family of Bridgeton, some of whom returned to Mexico Dec. 8 under threat of arrest and deportation. It saddens me that those who break our immigration laws are cast as victims.

    Two men are in custody and facing multiple charges including attempted murder after police say they tried to rob a man at gunpoint in Bridgeton Saturday morning. Bridgeton Police Chief Michael Gamiri said Alexander Kirkland, 23, of Bridgeton and Edward Dawkins, 33, of Fairfield Township were charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, aggravated assault with a weapon and robbery.

He was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden where he later was pronounced dead from his injuries, police say.
