The cooperative venture is between two past rivals over many Delta water issues: the Contra Costa Water District serving tap water to 500,000 people, and the Fresno-based Westlands Water District supplying irrigation water to an area with 614,700 acres on the western San Joaquin Valley.

    A small earthquake struck 5.5 miles east of the Blackhawk community in unincorporated Contra Costa County on Saturday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Service. The 3.8 magnitude tremor hit the area about 6:30 p.m., with individuals as far as about 15 miles away in Clayton, Livermore, Brentwood and Antioch reporting that they also felt tremors, according to the USGS.

The resolution supported the findings in eBART's Next Segment Study , which outlined multiple options for transit stations past the new Hillcrest Station in Antioch, but argued for the next station's location to be at Mokelumne Trail and State Route 4. "This will provide safer access to a hopeful BART extension and minimize the number of cars on Highway 4," said David Prado of the Brentwood Bicycle and Pedestrian Ad Hoc Committee.

The mudslide along Morgan Territory Road near unincorporated Brentwood in Contra Costa County closed a stretch of the route on Feb. 24. The water pipe break has cut off service to between 75 and 100 residents, according to county and water district officials.
