    They joined representatives from the state Department of Environmental Conservation, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and New York Sea Grant to restock lake sturgeon in the St. Regis River from the shoreline at Jelly Bean's Riverside Campground in Brasher Falls. Representatives from Save the River were also on hand.

    A Brasher Falls man has been identified by state police as the person killed Friday night in an ATV crash. Troopers said at about 8:30 p.m. at Route 11 and Hallahan Road in the town of Lawrence, Roger J. Deshane, 46, of Brasher Falls was operating a 1997 Yamaha Wolverine ATV, traveling south, when he failed to stop at a stop sign on Route 11. Mr. Deshane's ATV struck the side of a loaded 53-foot trailer attached to a 2013 International Harvester tractor operated by Henry J. Hart Jr., 61, of Plattsburgh, which was traveling east on Route 11. Mr. Deshane was thrown from his ATV into the westbound lane of Route 11 and was struck by a 2009 Honda Accord, operated by Nathan H. Magne, 25, of Montpelier, Vermont.

It's a rare occasion to have a criminal court filled with joy, but it was something Judge Richards couldn't help but participate in, as it was the first time in two years he presided over the graduation of defendants from the court's Judicial Diversion Program.
