    WOMAN ASSAULTED: On May 1, Deputy Michael Stanifer was dispatched to Braselton, where a 50-year-old woman reported she heard that a man was bragging he had hit a woman name Melissa over the head with a pipe. The deputy located the suspect who was with another man, so the officer pulled the other man to the side and asked if the suspect had mentioned anything about hitting a woman with a pipe.

The man told the deputy that his dog looked like it was near death, so he asked the deputy to shoot it, but the deputy refused.

    The driver of a FedEx truck involved in a Friday morning accident on I-85 in Barrow County will be charged with failure to maintain lane and violation of the state's "move-over" law, according to the Georgia State Patrol. Fred Richard Hill, 47, of Douglasville, was driving the truck southbound on I-85 when it struck a Braselton Police Department patrol car while police officer Christopher Michael Earls, 25, was out of the vehicle conducting a traffic stop.

    One southbound lane of Interstate 85 in Barrow County was closed for several hours on Friday following a wreck involving a FedEx truck and a Braselton Police Department patrol car in which the truck overturned, according to a news release from Barrow County Emergency Services. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the wreck occurred when the tractor-trailer struck the police car while the Braselton officer was outside the vehicle conducting a traffic stop.

Details of the accident were not immediately available from the Georgia State Patrol, but according to the GSP post in Athens, the truck driver was taken by helicopter to an area hospital.
