As fall practice gets underway, Fendley is letting a few of his players battle it out to see who the lead Red Devil signal-caller will be heading into the fall. After a summer of watching the candidates for the job put in work both on the field and in the weight room, the Bowdon head coach feels comfortable going with whoever emerges on top.

    Bowdon will celebrate its 165th birthday when as many as 5,000 people line the streets outside Copeland Hall to celebrate Founders Day on Saturday, Aug. 4. This year's event will include a 5K, the first annual "Preserve Our Town" jellies and jams competition, vendors, crafts, entertainment and living museum history tours. Applicants for the Bowdon Founders Day parade have until Friday to submit their applications and fees ahead of the event.

According to Ron Peppers, project manager with Jarrett Construction, the parking deck will cost $8.7 million and will be used by staff members and veterans seeking treatment at the clinic.

Getting a chance to rest up during the 'dead period' last week, the Tigers returned to their summer routine on Monday when they once again hosted Bowdon for a throwing session between the two county neighbors before shuffling across the county line for another session with Haralson County, Mount Zion and Cleburne County on Tuesday morning in Tallapoosa.
