    According to Marshall County Treasurer Angie Birchmeier, the 2016 payable 2017 tax bills second installment is due Monday, November 13. In addition to paying in person or by mail, there are several payment options available to taxpayers. Teacher Credit Union branches and iAB Financial Bank in Bourbon will collect payments beginning two weeks prior to the due date, and taxpayers in the Bremen area can drop their payments off at the Bremen Clerk-Treasurer's office.

    Monday morning the Marshall County Commissioners approved joining a coalition through the Michiana Area County of Government or MACOG to seek an additional Brownfield grant. Three years ago Marshall County, the City of Plymouth and Town of Bourbon received a $600,000 Brownfield grant to investigate sites that may have contamination.

    Last week Marshall County Attorney Jim Clevenger told the commissioners the bank holding the mortgage on the home at 606 North Thayer Street in Bourbon had filed a motion in Marshall Circuit Court on the last day, September 15th, to extend the stay for an additional 45 days. Clevenger immediately filed an objection in court saying that they had enough time to determine if they home was salvageable.
