    Announced last week, Dhruvik Parikh, a local Bothell student, was awarded the Intel Foundation Young Scientist Award and $50,000 for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair - a program of Society for Science and the Public and the world's largest international pre-college science competition Taking place this past week in Pittsburgh, Penn., the fair awarded over $5 million in prizes and scholarships. Dhruvik was awarded one of the top prizes out of nearly 1,800 finalists, from 420 affiliate fairs in 81 countries, regions and territories.

The Cities of Kenmore and Lake Forest Park have partnered to host a 46th District State Legislative Session Send-Off event on Jan. 2, at 6:30 p.m., followed by a Delegation Town Hall Meeting at 7:30 p.m. Bothell will host a 1st District send-off at the UW Bothell campus on Jan. 3 at 6 p.m. Attendees from the 46th District will have the opportunity to meet their state legislators Sen. David Frockt, Rep. Gerry Pollet and Rep. Javier Valdez as they prepare for the 2018 Washington State Legislature Session which begins on Jan. 8. Attendees form the 1st District will meet Sen. Guy Palumbo, Rep. Derek Stanford and Rep. Shelley Kloba as they answer questions regarding the upcoming session.
