-- Police and firefighters responded to a Deer Trail home for a fire alarm on Monday afternoon, but were told by the homeowner that burnt food on the stove had triggered the smoke alarm, and there was no fire. -- A Miller Drive resident was charged with allowing his dog to run at large and failure to obtain a dog license after his neighbor complained of the dog running loose. Marcin Dziadyk, 39, was issued the summonses by township animal control on Monday morning after his neighbor reported his German Shepherd was running loose, and she was concerned for her safety. -- Police and firefighters responded to a Summit Drive home in the Rock Ridge section of the township on a report of a car fire Saturday night, and found a 1995 Jeep wagon fully engulfed in flames. The owner, who was outside the vehicle, told police he started the car and saw a large amount of smoke coming from the engine area. Moments later, the vehicle caught fire. The blaze was extinguished by firefighters. -- Gavin McNall, 19, of Boonton Township, was charged with underage possession of alcohol on Friday night after police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked at Leonard Park on Valley Road at 7:35 p.m. The driver, McNall, told police he pulled into the park to use his cell phone. While police were speaking to McNall, they saw a case of beer on the rear floor behind the driver's seat. McNall was released, pending a municipal court appearance. -- Gail Havelock, 52, of Boonton, was ticketed for careless driving after police responded to a two-car crash on Rockaway Valley Road on Nov. 25 at 9:45 a.m. Havelock had rear-ended a vehicle driven by Michael McLoughlin, 63, of Lincoln Park. Neither driver was injured, and both vehicles were driven from the scene. -- Police and firefighters responded to a carbon monoxide alarm at a Boonton Avenue home on Nov. 24 at 3 p.m., and determined the alarm was activated by a new furnace that was recently installed. -- Two drivers walked away without injuries after their cars collided on Devon Road on Nov. 24 at 8 a.m. Adam Huchel, 18, of Boonton Township, was backing out of a driveway when he struck a vehicle driven by Zoraya Foreroguzman, 36, of Boonton Township. Huchel told police he could not see Foreroguzman because of brush blocking his view. No summonses were issued and both vehicles were driven from the scene. -- The wife of a man charged with driving while suspended was arrested when she arrived at the car impound to pick him up. Jamal Amer, 35, of Montville, was stopped on Boonton Avenue and his vehicle was impounded on Nov. 23 at 11:40 a.m. While police were towing his vehicle, Amer called his wife, Omayyeh, 35, to pick him up at the impound. When Omayyeh arrived, police checked her driver's license and determined she had an active warrant from Montville Municipal Court in the amount of $165. She was taken to headquarters where she was released after posting bail. -- Four pieces of equipment valued at close to $6,000 were reported stolen from an Overlook Road home on Nov. 22 at 1:15 p.m. The homeowner told police that two Redmax backpack blowers valued at $600 each, one Billygoat leaf blower valued at $1,500 and one Clauson drop spreader valued at $3,200 were missing from a shed at his home in the Oak Hills section of town. -- An Old Timber Trail couple reported two windows on the front of their home were broken sometime overnight on Nov. 22. Police said the windows may have been struck by rocks and the damage was estimated at $1,000 -- Lakeara Greene, 24, of Dover, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, after a traffic stop on Route 10 on Sunday. Greene also was found to have an outstanding $125 warrant out of Newark, and was issued a summons for maintenance of lamps. -- Alcione Dasilva, 36, of Newark was arrested on a $358 Montclair warrant on Nov. 27 at 8:10 a.m. after a traffic stop and was released after posting bail. -- David Barry, 19, of Madison was charged with DWI on Nov. 28 at 1:45 a.m. after he was stopped for driving while on a cell phone. He was later released pending a court appearance, and was issued a summons for driving while using a cell phone. -- Lorenzo Williams, 20, of East Orange was charged on Nov. 28 with theft of $300 from the Dunkin Donuts where he was employed. Police were called to the store by a manager, and arrested Williams after an investigation. Williams was released pending a court appearance. -- Theresa O'Reilly, 18, of Green Village and Katherine D'Esterhazy, 18, of Harding both were charged on Nov. 27 with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, after police checked a vehicle at 11:09 p.m. in a Sayre Court parking lot, and smelled burnt marijuana. D'Esterhazy also was charged with underage possession of alcohol. Both were released pending court appearances. -- Brian Rawding, 19, of Morristown was arrested on Nov. 29 at 12:31 a.m. by Patrolman Chad Rybka and charged with driving while under the influence. Rybka had stopped Rawding for a motor vehicle equipment violation, and smelled marijuana during the stop. Rawding was taken to Madison police headquarters for processing. After processing he was released to a family member pending a court appearance. -- Vincent Palumbo, 20, of Scotch Plains was charged Tuesday with possession of marijuana, and two 16-year-old girls he was with face drug charges as well. Police approached the two girls, who were leaving a coffee shop, at about 12:35 a.m. and observed signs that they and Palumbo were under the influence of drugs. Police recovered a small amount of marijuana that the girls allegedly smoked in the presence of Palumbo, who had additional marijuana in his vehicle. All were transported to police headquarters. Palumbo was issued the summons and released. The girls were released to their parents pending the charges. Comment?
