    Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts their August local sales tax allocations totaling $760.2 million, which represents an increase of 7.6 percent compared to August 2014. Hegar also said today that state sales tax revenue in July was $2.4 billion, up 2.7 percent compared to July 2014.

    In a lengthy regular meeting Monday night, Bonham City Council turned down a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy for an auxiliary building behind the former Smith Moore Williams building located at 221 North Main Street, and significantly amended the language in the city's smoking ordinance while leaving the basic framework of the decree in effect. WIlliam "Bill" and Chantal Carey have owned the Smith Moore Williams building for four years, but progress on bringing the 120-year-old structure back up to code has been dismal.
