    Dozens of cyclists will have the chance of a lifetime on Sunday, as the Vermont Challenge will host a climb up Mount Equinox for the first time in the event's history. For the seventh year of the challenge, riders on Sunday will ride a 56-mile stage and the last 5.3 miles of that will be Skyline Drive in Manchester, starting at the base of Mount Equinox and heading up nearly 3,200 feet to the summit.

    A Dover man has denied charges after Winhall police said he led them on a mile-long, high-speed pursuit before crashing his car late last month. Grant S. Bercik, 29, allegedly fled on foot after the early-morning Dec. 30 crash on Route 30 in Jamaica, according to police, who later found him trying to hitch hike and showing signs of hypothermia.

    The former owner of a Bondville pizzeria who accepted a plea deal in August for his role in moving nearly 100 pounds of heroin from Guatemala to Manchester Center is now asking a federal district judge withdraw his guilty plea. According to documents filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont, Marco Antonio Lam Peralta, the former owner of Tony's New York Style Pizzeria, "was convinced by his attorney to enter in to a plea agreement" even though he had expressed his desire several times to see his case go to trial.
