    A Bogalusa man who was on probation has been arrested for the seventh time, this time for reportedly selling illegal drugs, reports the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office. On June 7, detectives with the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office Drug Task Force, along with Louisiana State Police narcotics agents, a DEA officer, and a Louisiana probation agent arrested Jashma Lavar Crumedy, 28. He is charged with distribution of schedule I narcotics, possession with the intent to distribute schedule I narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, and fugitive from another jurisdiction.

    According to the initial on-scene investigation led by troopers, Christopher Rex Blansett, 30, was driving a long truck on Louisiana Highway 10 following a 2004 Ford Explorer driven by April Bertoniere, 36, of Bogalusa. For reasons still under investigation, Bertoniere was traveling at slow rate of speed and was partially on the right shoulder and partially in the eastbound lane.

    A prisoner who escaped custody in St. Bernard Parish has been located and arrested in Slidell. The inmate, identified as 18-year-old Shawn Landry of Bogalusa, escaped custody Saturday night around 8:30 p.m. According to police, Landry was serving a one year prison sentence for a possession of a stolen vehicle and was classified as a trustee prisoner.

    On December 20, the City of Bogalusa became the 10th city in Louisiana to pass a city-wide smoke-free ordinance. Youth in the city were instrumental to the passage of the ordinance, as they presented the dangers of secondhand smoke to the council, highlighting the need for this legislation, which is now the strongest smoke-free ordinance in the state.
