An officer at 4:46 p.m. Sunday stopped a male driver in a pickup truck near the Acme along Route 94 for allegedly not wearing his seat belt as he pulled out of Cobblewood Road. As the officer was giving Warren County 911 dispatch information about the driver, a passenger -- identified as the driver's mother -- began to gasp for air, police said.

    A manhunt is underway for a 21-year-old Stroudsburg man who police say tried to hit a New Jersey State Police trooper with his vehicle during a traffic stop along Route 80. Smithers, who has warrants for his arrest in various states for multiple crimes, tried to avoid a traffic stop for a minor motor vehicle violation along Union Brick Road in Blairstown Township, said Captain Scott Johnsen, the officer in charge of the department. Smithers then swerved at a trooper standing in a construction area where the highway was being resurfaced, Johnsen said.
