    On June 7, New Bloomfield and Blain hosted the Antique Automobile Club of America's "Founders Tour" and were invaded by a fleet of cars and car enthusiasts. The boroughs were the breakfast and lunch stops, respectively, in the tour of Perry County's covered bridges by AACA members and their vintage autos.

    He retired from Kinney Shoe Corp.; grew up working the family farm in Blain and worked construction with cousins Larry and Jim; attended Blain Union High School, class of 1961; a member of Three Springs Church of the Brethren, Blain, a life member and board member of Shermans Dale Fire Company and sold gun raffle tickets with his buddy, Marlin Bentsel, and attended and was a board member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Marysville; and an avid hunter and enjoyed races at Port Royal Speedway and Sunday afternoon NASCAR races and his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. Surviving are his wife, Kay L. Burkholder, a son, Jason and wife Michelle, and granddaughter, Carly Faith McConnell, all of Shermans Dale.

The new rates are too high for most of them to continue taking trips they once enjoyed under the old authority.
