    Two veterans and their dogs passed through Birmingham and Huntsville this week on a 6,000-mile journey across the country to raise money for military families and vets with pets. WBRC-TV reports Marine veteran Dan Spangler and Army Ranger veteran Joe Trainor Jr. began a trek from Camp Lejune in North Carolina to California's Camp Pendleton April 26. The pair plans to walk and accept rides, hitting a new city each day, with their dogs, Spanky and C.T., in a mission they have dubbed Operation: Keep Your Spanky.
