    According to the Birmingham Police Department, the victim - 48-year-old Curtis Johnson - was attacked and stabbed in the Gate City community on February 2. That's when they found Johnson, unresponsive. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment, but he later died because of his injuries.

An On Your Side investigation of public records reveals a flaw in the Jefferson County Sex Offender Registry allowed that man and two other convicted sex offenders to register home addresses too close to Hemphill Elementary School in Birmingham.

Hinson, 69, faces five wire fraud charges after investigators say he deposited more than 225 checks from Strickland Trading Inc., where he worked as CFO, into a company he created called Strickland Trading Company, LLC between April 2007 and April 2016.
