Boucaud was named a first-team Foothills Council all-star in the 100 meters, 200 meters and long jump. Amsterdam's Kevon Boucaud was named a first-team all-star in the 100 meters, 200 meters and long jump.

    At the 2016 state championship meet, he led the the Division 2 discus competition with a throw of 151-02 until Nick Kocienda unleashed a 160-08 attempt on his final attempt to take home the gold. That loss has been a driving force this season for the Broadalbin-Perth senior as he dominated the discus and shot put competition, putting him at the top of the Section II and state leaderboards.

    The Amsterdam Mohawks got their season off to a good start Thursday, defeating the Onondaga Flames 12-1 at Shuttleworth Park. The defending Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League champions were led by Amsterdam-native Julian Gallup who went 2-for-3 with a double, single and two runs scored.

Creativity and problem solving will be key skills area children will need when they vie in the statewide Odyssey of the Mind competition in Binghamton on April 8. Several area school districts had their student teams finish first in their respective categories at the March 11 Regional Championships in Canajoharie.
