    A 28-year-old Big Rapids woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries Friday in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of South Stewart Avenue and Linden Street, according to the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety. She was eastbound on Linden in a Dodge Caravan when a Ford Explorer heading south on Stewart failed to yield at a stop sign and struck her minivan.

    The crash happened at 9:34 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, on West Remus , just west of Vandecar in Deerfield Township, the Isabella County Sheriff's Department reports. A 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by 19-year-old Joe Balknight of Big Rapids was westbound on Remus and crossed the center line, hitting a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am by 24-year-old Chelsea Smith of Stanton, police said.

Mecosta County Circuit Judge Ronald Nichols wanted to be clear: No matter what changes in law may occur in the future, Duncan Willis will never again see life as a free man.

    An overtime goal from sophomore forward Chad McDonald only 1:39 into the extra session lifted the nationally fourth-ranked Ferris State University men's ice hockey team to an exciting 3-2 road victory over St. Lawrence on Friday night at Appleton Arena in Canton, N.Y. McDonald scored at even-strength on a goal assisted by both junior defenseman Brandon Anselmini and senior defenseman Jason Binkley to keep the Bulldogs unbeaten at 2-0 overall in regular-season action this campaign. It was his third goal of the year while Binkley also picked up his third assist of the season.
