CHESTERFIELD - The New Jersey Turnpike Authority and insurance companies for their contractors will contribute $1.65 million to a settlement pool for victims of a 2012 school bus crash in Chesterfield that killed an 11-year-old girl . A dump truck that collided with the school bus was hauling material from a Turnpike highway widening project between exits 6 and 9. On Tuesday, the Turnpike authority's board of commissioners voted to approve paying $500,000 of authority money toward the fund, which is the entities' deductible from its own liability insurance policy. WILLINGBORO TWP. - A 41-year-old Beverly man is facing charges of aggravated assault, criminal mischief and eluding police after authorities said he drove erratically through Willingboro, blowing out tires, u-turning on a front lawn and attempting to hit a police vehicle on Aug. 19. In a media release on Monday, Willingboro police said an officer attempted to stop Dennis Cross II at about 9:45 a.m. after the officer saw him driving a pickup truck "erratically" at the intersection of Route 130 and Beverly Rancocas Road, accelerating to the point the truck's tires were smoking.
