    Chuck Many of Annandale didn't get enough of his self-described "40 hours of torture" in winning the HI-Mar Fall 40-Hour Striped Bass Tournament last month, so he entered his Ty Man from Gateway Marina in Highlands into last weekend's 46-hour Big Bass Shootout, sponsored by the Staten Island Tuna Club. Once again Dave Donahue of Readington, Nellie Greer from Bethlehem, Pa., Matt Calabria of Hazlet and I joined Many in the non-stop pursuit of a big striper from Friday night to Sunday afternoon as we challenged the New Yorkers on their home grounds in the harbor.

    Prospects for striped bass didn't look too good on Tuesday as Chuck Many of Annandale began his day at 6 a.m. on Ty Man from Gateway Marina in Highlands with the water temperature at 77 degrees in Raritan Bay. That's hardly ideal for stripers, but Many finally had a full day to fish after taking his daughter Isabella to softball tournaments around the country -- and there was no end time to this trip.
