The Grippin farm is one of a handful of businesses in the region that is selling maple water ,also known as sap, which is boiled to make syrup , as an alternative to sports energy drinks. The water is purchased and marketed by a company from Pittsfield, Mass., and is now being sold nationally.

    An Albany County Grand Jury has indicted 20-year-old Tiffany Van Alstyne of Berne on murder and manslaughter charges in the December death of her cousin, 5-year-old Kenny White. The boy's body was found at the bottom of a hill along Thacher Park Road after an intensive search, launched when Van Alstyne told deputies a couple of men broke into the family's trailer, hit her over the head, and took the child.
