And as early as August, the commission could begin hearings on a proposal to build 54 units of affordable housing for seniors on land formerly owned by Christ Lutheran Church at 2626 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. The commission will simultaneously consider the zoning changes necessary for these units to be built.

    Golden Gate Transit bus service across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge that started late last year has turned out to be a half-million-dollar flop, and officials voted Thursday to shut down the service in September The service - funded by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission - needed at least 20 riders a trip to make it sustainable. It is averaging two to three riders despite $100,000 in “extensive marketing,” which included a billboard along Interstate 580 in the East Bay.

    The median price of a Marin home dropped 5 percent in January, to $850,000 compared with the previous January, and sales jumped 13 percent, a real estate information service reported Wednesday. The median price of a condominium was essentially flat, going from $449,000 in January 2015 to $450,000 in January 2016, and sales dropped 5 percent, to 42 condos, according to Irvine-based CoreLogic.
