    A woman who lied about her teenage daughter being missing about a year ago has been resentenced to a year in prison for violating the terms of her probation. Piatt County Judge Brad Rau resentenced Amanda Huddleston, 40, of Farmer City, formerly of Bement, to the year behind bars for obstructing justice.

    Four nursing homes in Champaign and Piatt counties have been fined by the Illinois Department of Public Health in connection with violations from July through September. They include the Champaign County Nursing Home in Urbana, Champaign-Urbana Nursing and Rehab in Savoy, Illini Heritage Rehab and Health in Champaign and Bement Health Care Center, according to a report released Friday by IDPH.

    Atwood Police Chief Rob Bross said that Seth Tindle, 21, was arrested Tuesday on charges of aggravated vehicular hijacking, aggravated battery, possession of methamphetamine, aggravated driving under the influence, trespassing on railroad property and other traffic offenses. According to a police report, officers were called at 10:42 a.m. to the 300 block of Oak Drive, where a woman said a man identified as Tindle approached her after she had just placed her 6-month-old baby in her vehicle and told her that someone was trying to harm him.

    A Piatt County judge has found there is enough evidence for the trials of three people charged with criminal neglect following the death of a 64-year-old Monticello man to go forward. Jury trials for Mason Brown, 34, and his mother, Christy, 61, both of Monticello, and Justin Tatman, 37, of Bement have been tentatively set for Jan. 7. All three pleaded not guilty Friday before Judge Brad Rau, who ruled there was probable cause for their cases to proceed.

Monticello police Chief John Carter said "deplorable" living conditions were a contributing factor to Ronald Blankenship's death from "severe bilateral bronchopneumonia of the lungs and a closed-off larynx."

Hunt returned fire by saying Turngren - a current guard at the jail - could have avoided violence by walking away from a situation that resulted in injuries to his Republican challenger.
