    The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation has taken over the case of a suspect in a high-speed chase in Rolette County Friday night after the sheriff says the suspect died after suffering a medical condition in the jail. According to a press release from the Rolette County Sheriff, officers pursued a 52-year-old Belcourt man through multiple towns for roughly 45 minutes before arresting him in Dunseith, N.D., and took him to the Rolette County Jail.

    A 20-year-old Belcourt man accused of raping a teenage girl at gunpoint in 2016 has pleaded not guilty. The girl told investigators that Gourneau, who would have been 19 years old at the time of the alleged incident, forced himself on her while holding a gun to her head.

In a press release, the Tribe accused Keplin of "self-dealing," saying that Keplin "engaged in six different actions that constituted 'misconduct' under the laws of the Tribe," which includes accusing Keplin of attempting to redirect fees normally paid to the Tribe to his construction company.

Authorities arrested the 67-year-old Keplin Monday in Belcourt on accusations that he assaulted a former Turtle Mountain council member, and later transferred him to Rugby.
