The Bedford County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Bedford County Historical Society and Eat 2 Live Bistro, will hold the second annual Farm to Table Chef Showcase from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the historical society's hall at Kinton's Knob on Route 30 just west of Bedford. More than a dozen area businesses will offer food samplings paired with Pennsylvania whiskey, wine and beer, as well as infused waters and dessert. Comment?

The way it works is public school districts receive a combination of local and state tax money, and charter schools take their per-student share from the school district where the student would otherwise attend. Paying bills to charter schools can be a drain on districts, unless charters draw enough students for districts to cut back on major expenses including personnel. Comment?
School districts trying to survive close or consolidate school buildings. But as a result, they could end up paying more if the community, trying to save its identity, opens a charter school to fill the void left by closed district schools. Comment?
State police have filed nearly 1,700 charges, including 44 felonies, against a Bedford County car dealership owner who allegedly failed to pay taxes, sold cars with outstanding liens and defrauded customers who bought warranties. Police accused Anthony Charles Roy, 52, of 14 Gephart Ave., Bedford - owner of the former Tony Roy Auto Sales in Everett - of a litany of crimes, some committed against the state and others against customers and financial companies.
