    A pregnant woman, Elena Velasquez-Pelico, 37, of Beaverton died after she was hit by a car driven by Suha Al Naisani, 37,of Beaverton when Naisani's vehicle struck her at 1:43 p.m Tuesday at a business at 4265 S.W. Cedar Hills Blvd. The driver mistakenly had the vehicle in reverse and not drive when she attempted to pull out of a parking lot. The vehicle crossed the sidewalk and struck Velasquez-Pelico who was walking on the sidewalk in front of the business, pushing her through a glass window.

The 90,000-square-foot building is planned to be built to critical-facility standards to withstand a major earthquake, move police facilities out of a flood zone, provide private areas for crime victims and minors and will include an Emergency Operations Center with disaster-response equipment.
