    A 17-year-old girl, preoccupied with her cellphone, was hit by a MAX train in Beaverton on Monday, police said. Witnesses said the teen was looking down at her phone and apparently didn't notice the oncoming eastbound Blue Line train while crossing the MAX tracks near Southwest 158th Avenue and Merlo Road a little before 5:20 p.m., according to Beaverton police.

Jonathan Guzman, 21, was driving west along Southwest Farmington Road around 2:50 a.m. Saturday when he blew past a Beaverton police cruiser and straight into a tree at the intersection of Murray Boulevard, said Officer Jeremy Shaw, a department spokesman.

    One person was arrested, another detained and a third person seriously injured Wednesday after police say a driver with warrants for his arrest crashed into two cars and then into a Beaverton pond after a police chase. The driver, 26-year-old Chase Larrazabal, had three outstanding arrest warrants for misdemeanor theft in Washington County and had eluded officers who tried to pull him over in his Mercury Mountaineer last week, said Officer Jeremy Shaw, a Beaverton police spokesman.

Officers say the chase started after they responded to a suspicious vehicle/person call at Southwest Erickson and Southwest Larson at 2:15 p.m. When they approached the suspect, they recognized the person as 26-year-old Chase Larrazabal, who they had tried to arrest last week.
