    After months of planning and one false start, the large gymnasium at the Bay County Community Center is likely to get a new playing surface this fall. Cristen Gignac, Bay County director of recreation and facilities, said a new gym floor is likely to be installed at the community center, 800 John F. Kennedy Drive on Bay City's West Side, in September, with volleyball and basketball league play scheduled to start afterwards.

    Just a few months shy of completing his two-year parole term, a Bay City man now faces drug charges as police allege he sold heroin to an undercover officer. On Thursday, Feb. 5, an officer with the Bay City Department of Public Safety's VIPER Unit conducted a controlled buy of heroin in a room at Monnie Lynn Hotel, 1710 S. Euclid Ave. The officer met with 27-year-old Daniel J. Cunningham, who organized for a vehicle to arrive and drop off heroin, court records show.

Rieman , 48, on Wednesday, April 29, appeared in Bay County District Court for arraignment on two counts each of forgery and uttering and publishing - both 14-year felonies - and single counts of embezzlement between $1,000 and $20,000, embezzlement of between $20,000 and $50,000, and false pretenses between $1,000 and $20,000.

Spindler on Monday, April 27, appeared before Bay County Circuit Judge Harry P. Gill and pleaded no contest to two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct causing personal injury, a 15-year felony, and one count of assaulting, resisting, or obstructing police.
