    Bay City Public Safety Firefighters are using an aerial truck and several hoses to combat an attic fire at 403 Patterson Ave. in the city's Banks District on Monday night, Nov. 21. Crews shut down Patterson Avenue between Marchand and Smith streets to fight the fire, surrounding the scene with caution tape. Public Safety Director Michael Cecchini confirmed that the blaze was in the attic of the home.

    In an effort to amp up the city's existing anti-discrimination ordinance, the Bay City Commission this week takes a first look at a new ordinance that extends protections for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community across the entire city, not just for business handled at city hall. At its 7:30 p.m. meeting Monday, Nov. 21, the City Commission receives a first reading of an ordinance that would create a five-person human relations committee to oversee discrimination complaints within the city limits.
