The fire sparked on Saturday, August 18th, around the same time a helicopter crashed and injured three people. At this time, it is unknown if the two are connected and the cause of the wildfire is still being investigated.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports authorities are searching for a Dodge pickup that may have been involved after the male bicyclist was found dead next to his bike at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Sheep Creek fire has burned 89 square miles of sage brush and cheat grass since it started shortly after the Nevada Department of Wildlife helicopter went down Saturday afternoon.
