The state's top teams ranging from the Upper Peninsula to the Indiana border have fought for the right to take the court in the season's final weekend, and Friday promises to be another action-packed day of slamming spikes and diving digs.

    According to a release from the City of Battle Creek, firefighters responded to an occupied structure fire at 162 W. Fountain St. at 8:58 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11. Crews reported that the rear of the wood frame house was being burned by a fire that extended into a back bathroom and attic area. Eighteen firefighters worked together to extinguish the fire.

Kalamazoo County sheriff's deputies said the Battle Creek man's vehicle was going at high speed when it struck the truck, then slid into a retaining wall.
