The $473 million proposed general fund budget anticipates that the school system will raise only $450 million during the 2018-19 fiscal year, a gap of $23 million. Overall revenue for the school system is expected to increase by about 3 percent compared with the current fiscal year, while spending is proposed to increase at a faster pace, by almost 5 percent.
