    Louisiana residents affected by the March and August floods of 2016 can get some extra money back on their federal tax return thanks to tweaks to the tax code included in the overhaul passed by Congress this week. If you deducted casualty loss from either flood when you filed your 2016 taxes, you now can retroactively file an amended tax return, according to J David Shoptaugh, a certified public accountant in Baton Rouge.

Chief Sherman Jackson says his department received a tip from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office and Secret Service that the two suspects were traveling through the area.

According to reports, the sisters got into a fight with a man and woman on Julia Street on December 6. Police said Delone pulled out a gun and started shooting at the pair.

    A terrible crash in July along Jefferson Highway near Drusilla claimed the life of 60-year-old George Robertson Sharp, Jr. The results of an investigation into the incident were released Wednesday, which revealed the exact cause was an exploding Takata airbag inside the man's 2004 Honda Civic. The problem is with a chemical used inside the device to inflate the airbags.

    According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, deputies are looking for two suspects who are suspected of placing a skimmer on the ATM at the Neighbors Federal Credit Union on Perkins Rd. on the night of Dec. 3. Deputies say they don't know when the device was collected, but several people who used the ATM around the time reported their debit cards were cloned and used beginning on Dec. 9. Officials say the cloned cards have been used in Lafayette, Gonzales, and Harvey, as well as in other locations. EBRSO is asking anyone who used the ATM on Perkins and suspects their card may have been cloned to contact their financial institution.
