Running from Friday afternoon though Sunday evening, the first-ever Ballard County Waterfowl Festival drew in a big crowd each day to the Fairgrounds. Events included an ultimate air dog water jumping competition, goose and duck call competitions, seminars, music, and helicopter tours. Comment?
Fifteen months after he was originally charged with several counts of animal torture and criminal mischief, Edward Ream, 64, listened as a jury found him guilty of one count of attempted animal torture in Ballard County Circuit Court last Wednesday. The guilty verdict follows a mistrial, a guilty plea and then a withdrawal of that plea by the Barlow man who had been accused of soaking meat in antifreeze in order to poison his neighbors' dogs.
