    During the week of Oct. 22 -28, 2017, five members of the Bandera FFA chapter traveled to the National FFA convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. From more than 300 applicants nationwide, Zakary Widenor was chosen to participate in the National FFA chorus and sang in six of the eight sessions, as well as several other performances around the city of Indianapolis.

Did you know only four tenths of one percent of the United States population serves in the military? Or that more than 165,000 Texans serve in today's military, actively protecting the hard-won freedoms of more than 325 million Americans. Texas has about 1.6 million veterans and about 3,000 of them live in Bandera County.

    The Bandera Bulldogs, coming off a much needed week of rest and an extra week of preparation for their Friday night matchup against the Llano Yellowjackets, are facing a tough task against another formidable opponent in week 3 of District 13-4A-DII football action to be played this Friday night, November 3, at Llano with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. The 2-6, 0-2 Bulldogs find themselves in a must-win situation at Llano if they are to have any chance of a playoff berth in the upcoming post-season tournament. The 4-5, 1-2 Yellowjackets are coming off a 30-24 victory at Hondo last Friday night and can clinch a playoff berth with a victory over the Bulldogs.

    In what was pre-billed as the most critical game of the season for both teams, the visiting Hondo Owls rolled over the Bandera Bulldogs 41-8 in District 13-4A-DII football action played on Friday, Oct. 20, at Bulldog Stadium in Bandera. With the victory, the Owls improve to 2-5 overall and 1-0 in district play which could very well put them in the post-season playoffs for the second year in a row.
