'The NY SAFE Act does not protect our families and our communities as it says it does,' said Crouch in a statement released yesterday, March 1. 'It is a controversial law drafted by New York City politicians that infringes on the rights of law-abiding firearm owners by treating them as criminals, and it does nothing to actually address the violence that is committed by people with illegal firearms across the state.'

    A one-person snowmobile accident that occurred in the Town of Oxford on the evening of Tuesday, January 31, reportedly claimed a life according to a release from the Chenango County Sheriff's Office. Cutting Jr. reports that at approximately 10:40 p.m., the Chenango County 911 Center received a report of an accident that occurred on Quarry Road in the Town of Oxford involving a single snowmobile.

    A Unadilla man will be spending the next 10 years behind bars after he was convicted of kidnapping in the second degree, a sexually motivated felony, when the Chenango Court convened for a morning session on Monday, Aug. 15. Damien M. Schlabsz, 21, appeared in court faced with one count of kidnapping in the second degree, a class B felony; one count of bail jumping in the second degree, a class E felony; one count of unlawful imprisonment in the first degree, a class E felony; criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor; and one count of menacing in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.
