Seventh-three schools across the state participated in this year's METG Theatre Awards program, competing for recognition in acting as well as in design and the technical aspects of theater.

In a clean sweep, 11 riverfront communities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire all voted "yes" at their Annual Town Meetings to accept the Nashua, Squannacook, and Nissitissit Rivers Stewardship Plan locally developed by the Nashua River Wild and Scenic River Study Committee, together with its recommendation to seek Wild and Scenic River designation.

    Upgrades for a water-treatment plant to remove contaminants and approval for the town to seek a fourth liquor license were among the 35 articles approved Monday at Town Meeting. Voters at Ayer Shirley Regional High School authorized the town to borrow $4.17 million to improve the Grove Pond water treatment plant to remove Perflourinated Akyl Substances, which were found in a drinking well that has been taken out of service.

    This year at Annual Town Meeting, voters in nine Massachusetts riverfront communities will take up the topic of the Nashua, Squannacook, and Nissitissit Rivers, and their possible designation as a "Wild and Scenic Rivers." These nine communities, Ayer, Bolton, Dunstable, Groton, Harvard, Lancaster, Pepperell, Shirley, and Townsend have been participating with two New Hampshire towns as part of a Nashua River Wild and Scenic River Study Committee to explore designation of segments of the Nashua River from Lancaster to the New Hampshire border, and all of its two main tributaries, the Nissitissit and Squannacook Rivers, as Partnership Wild and Scenic Rivers.
