Mahon said the boy's parents had been in Avon from their home in Westfield and were notified Sunday afternoon soon after their son's identity was confirmed.

But in the years following Hurricane Sandy, to help beef up business at the Shore, Gov. Chris Christie has signed executive orders to allow these businesses to start serving alcohol two months ahead of the May 1 date that's written into the current statute.
