The pep rally will begin at 1:50 p.m. in the high school gymnasium immediately followed by the homecoming parade at 2:20 p.m. The parade route will begin at the Elementary School and proceed through Avenue Three, 4th Street, Avenue Five, circle the Atkins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 7th Street, Avenue One, 8th Street, North Church Street, 2nd Street and end at the high school band complex.

According to the Pope County Election Commission website, citizens in wards one through four in Russellville will all vote at the Pope County Election headquarters, located at 1509 E Main St. The polling location for Buck Mountain, Dover, Freeman, Martin, Moreland and Scottsville will be at Dover First Baptist Church on 143 SR 164 E in Dover.

    A man arrested by Department of Homeland Security agents in Atkins in August 2016, who pleaded guilty to child pornography charges in February, was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Arkansas. A spokesman with the U.S. Department of Justice said Thursday that Richard Bartmann, 81, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Billy Roy Wilson to 114 months imprisonment and a lifetime term supervised release to follow.

    The Arkansas Department of Transportation required a temporary lane closure on U.S. Highway 64, between Pottsville and Atkins, Tuesday due to roadway maintenance work that will continue today. The crew restricted traffic to one lane from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. which allowed crews to repair about one mile of selected sections on the road.
