Police said they were attempting to locate the driver when Galvez-Vasquez called 9111 and said that her car had "stopped" on the highway and had since made her way back home, according to police.

The victim said she was in front of her home with other people at about 11 p.m. when an SUV drove up and the suspect and several others exited the vehicle with about seven passengers and began to assault her, according to police.

Responding to a resident's report of the suspicious pair that was walking around buildings and cars at about 5:40 a.m., police said they immediately identified one of the suspects as 19-year-old Nigel Zachariah Turner of Huntington Road, a known gang member.

Tremell Barnett was sitting in the back seat of the car in front of his Hollow Ridge Drive home at about 4 p.m., when he began "bumping to the music" that was playing, according to a 21-year-old man who witnessed the shooting and identified himself to Athens-Clarke County police as a good friend of the victim.
