The initial section of the sales-tax-funded rail-to-trail project, a multiple-use concrete path following the abandoned Georgia Railroad right of way, is slated to begin on East Broad Street in the far eastern edge of downtown near Weaver D's restaurant, run through the county's Dudley Park, and end at Old Winterville Road near the Athens Perimeter.
