    The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a 3 p.m. crash in Benton County on Mississippi Highway 5. MHP spokesman Ray Hall tells the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal 77-year-old James Godsey, of Ashland, was traveling north when he apparently lost control of his car, left the roadway and collided into a tree. Hall says Godsey's car caught fire and he died at the scene.

    The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a 3 p.m. crash in Benton County on Mississippi Highway 5, south of U.S. Highway 72. According to MHP spokesman Ray Hall, upon arriving it appeared James Godsey, 77, of Ashland, was traveling north on Highway 5, when he apparently lost control of his 2004 Buick, left the roadway and collided into a tree. An hour later at 4 p.m. troopers responded to another fatal crash near King Kars on U.S. Highway 45 in Alcorn County.
