When they stopped the vehicle along Village Drive, the 17-year-old Hesperia boy driving the car had stolen property, authorities said in a news release.

    The person who suffered major injuries in a fatal collision on Highway 18 between Lucerne Valley and Apple Valley on Tuesday was identified Wednesday, Dec. 15, as an off-duty San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy. Deputy Stan Conway, who is assigned to the Big Bear station, was still hospitalized Wednesday but is expected to recover, sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Bachman said.

Los Angeles County deputies were looking for James Jaimez, the primary suspect in a homicide in that county, and he was tracked on June 25, 2014, to a recycling center in Apple Valley.

On Tuesday, the owner of a residence in the 11000 block of Caribou Avenue in Apple Valley told deputies that he was changing the locks after evicting squatters who he identified as Pusok's family members when Pusok showed up to retrieve property.
