    An effort to sell Pinal County residents on a 20-year plan to improve transportation throughout the county primarily by building new roads and improving existing roads - and to fund these projects through a 0.5% increase in the county sales tax - moved into high gear recently. Between March 21 and April 5, the Pinal Regional Transportation Authority held five public meetings where citizens saw the plan unveiled and could learn how these road projects would benefit them.

Hodl Issues ranging from the possible acquisition of military-grade vehicles for use by the Superior Police and Fire Departments to deciding the fate of the U.S. Highway 60 Rest Stop were tackled by the Town Council during a busing meeting on March 10. Council members unanimously approved an Intergovernmental Agreement negotiated with Apache Junction that would enable Superior to acquire free of charge used police vehicles from that town. Police Chief David Neuss spoke in favor of the agreement, noting that he had his eye on an armored Bearcat vehicle and a Humvee.

    The Mayor of Superior makes cash withdrawals of our money with a town debit card assigned to him not once, not twice, but eight times? And pays it back - some of the withdrawals were over two years ago - after a new-hire at town hall recently questioned the withdrawals in the bank statements. Are you telling me that the town clerk/manager or the finance person didn't happen to notice the disappearing unaccounted for and undocumented money over the past two years totaling over $2,300? I would ask the manager and finance guy but they both abruptly quit their jobs when things heated up at town hall.
