    Despite an airlift after extrication from a three-vehicle crash in which three other people were injured, a 95-year-old woman later died at a hospital, authorities said Sunday. Just after 4:10 p.m., firefighters responded to reports of the crash at the intersection of Highway 4 and Marsh Creek Road, East Contra Costa Fire battalion chief Ross Macumber said.

    An Antioch man who worked tirelessly to send his three children to college was shot and killed in a robbery that turned deadly Monday, the man's niece said Tuesday. Jawad Ataie, 57, was working his regular evening shift at the Valero gas station, located at the corner of Hillcrest Avenue and East 18th Street in Antioch when, shortly before 8:30 p.m., someone tried to rob the store, police said.

    The CHP caught on video a motorcycle driver appearing to speed through traffic recklessly and said the video shot from a helicopter overhead helped bring authorities to him. Officers arrested Eric Poole Jr., 29, of Antioch on Thursday, shortly after a CHP helicopter with video tape captured him apparently speeding down Highway 24 near the Hidden Valley Road exit in Orinda, CHP spokesman Officer Brandon Correia said Sunday.
