The trip will be the sixth time the college has participated in the Collegiate Challenge of Habitat for Humanity, an organization dedicated to building homes in impoverished communities. The Habitat center at which they will work, Habitat for Humanity of Wake County, N.C., seeks to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope.

    ANNVILLE >> For the eighth consecutive year, Lebanon Valley College's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program is available to assist low-income, elderly, and otherwise disadvantaged taxpayers in completing their federal, state, and local taxes now through April 9. Twelve LVC students are participating in the VITA program and will meet, interview and prepare tax returns for residents under the leadership of Brion Smoker, CPA. Last year, 11 LVC VITA student volunteers, were able to retrieve $339,089 in returns for the disadvantaged.

    Forecasts of extremely low temperatures and high winds have caused organizers of Sunday's Annville Winterfest to postpone the event until next weekend. The new date for the free winter festival at the Quittie Creek Nature Park off Bachman Road is Feb. 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. It will feature ice skating in the quarry, scavenger hunts, guided trail hikes, fire pits to roast s'mores, and other activities.
