In a contest, students were challenged to bring in either monetary donations or supplies. In total, students collected more than 300 supply items or donations.

    It would be nice to believe that last week's exchange between Andover Township Mayor Tom Walsh and officials with NJ Transit would lead to getting the Lackawanna Cutoff project on track. The exchange, prompted by a May 12 letter from Andover Township Council and signed by Walsh, may have memorialized some promises, but given the years-old history of efforts to restore passenger rail service to Sussex County, we remain skeptical.
