    Officials from the Amarillo Fire Department and Amarillo Fire Department are urging property owners to securely lock property after a fire was intentionally set in an abandoned hospital building Saturday night. At 6:38 p.m., firefighters were called to the 3000 block of Southwest 27th Avenue, and saw smoke coming from a two-story structure upon arrival.

    Three Amarillo churches/religious organizations were recently included in a brief before the U.S. Supreme Court related to a so-called "discrimination" case involving a baker in Colorado who refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple, citing religious beliefs. The brief, which calls on the highest court in the land to rule in favor of the gay couple on the grounds of illegal discrimination, includes the names of about 1,300 religious leaders and organizations, including three in Amarillo - "Mercy of God Community, Interfaith," "Presbyterian Church USA," and "Metropolitan Community Church."
