    Peter Balderas, the father of four children apparently killed by exposure to lethal phosphine gas Monday, and four of his surviving children remain listed in stable condition at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital this morning. Four of the Balderas siblings - Yasmeen, 17; Josue, 11; Johnnie, 9 and Felipe, 7 - died Monday in what officials believe was an accidental poisoning.

    The Environmental Protection Agency and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality stepped in Tuesday to begin conducting an assessment of the contamination at a home where a family of 10 was apparently poisoned by exposure to lethal gas. This came on the same day that preliminary autopsy reports returned from Lubbock indicated that the four siblings who died Monday may have done so as a result of exposure to phosphine gas that caused life-threatening complications, such as fluid in the lungs.

    Cleanup efforts after a toxic mixture of a pesticide and water created toxic fumes that killed four and injured six at an Amarillo home early Monday will begin after federal and state agencies complete an assessment of the contamination. The Environmental Protection Agency and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality are set to evaluate the home in northeast Amarillo, where the reaction occurred after a resident there spread aluminum-phosphide fumigant Weevil-Cide underneath the residence and wet the chemical, creating a poisonous gas, Amarillo City spokesman Jesse Patton said at a news conference Tuesday.

    Four people died in a structure fire Thursday evening in the 4100 block of Brook Hollow in northwest Amarillo, Potter County Sheriff Brian Thomas said. Thomas identified the victims Friday morning as Michelle Stone, 34; Richard Stone, 8; Audrianna Stone, 5; and Keegan Stone, 4. Responding to a 911 call at about 5 p.m., Potter County Fire units and Potter County Sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene and discovered a travel trailer on fire.
